The Oman American Business Council (OABC) has announced the appointment of Rebecca Olson as the new chief executive officer, effective August 1, 2023. Rebecca previously served as the executive director for the OABC for five years before departing in July 2022, and now returns to lead the organization as the CEO. In her new role, Rebecca will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the OABC’s mission: implementing new initiatives to improve trade, develop bilateral relations, and establish a stronger presence promoting Oman trade and investment in the United States.OABC president and chairman emeritus, Ali Daud, expressed his appreciation for Rebecca’s leadership during her previous period as executive director. Daud said, “We’re ushering in a new era for OABC and for the business relationship between Oman and the US over the coming years. Rebecca has a wealth of experience and earned the respect of our business community members, and we are confident the she will lead OABC to accomplish our objectives.” “In line with Vision 2040, and the country’s plan to diversify its economy, we intend to establish new avenues to seize the potential US-Oman Free Trade Agreement, one of only four such agreements in the entire MENA region,” he added.Rebecca expressed her gratitude upon returning to the OABC and said, “I am honored and privileged to serve as CEO of the OABC, the country’s leading business networking organization and the official affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in Oman. I look forward to working together with the board, our members, and our dedicated staff to ensure we continue contributing to the growth of an active business community in Oman, building bridges for trade and investment with the US, and fulfilling the expectations of our members.” The Oman American Business Center promotes understanding, partnerships, and other matters of mutual economic interest between business communities in Oman and the US.
