The Oman American Business Center (OABC) or AmCham Oman, an official affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in the sultanate, is launching a series of free online workshops to spread awareness about the benefits of the US-Oman Free Trade Agreement (FTA).Omani businesses are invited to take part in the five-part series of free webinars designed to build awareness and understanding of the benefits and opportunities of the FTA between the US and Oman. The program has been created by the OABC with the support of the US Embassy in Muscat.Oman is one of the 20 countries globally to have a free trade agreement with the United States, offering businesses a significant competitive advantage both in exporting to the US and importing. This interactive webinar series has been designed to empower Omani traders with knowledge on how to successfully navigate the FTA and will cover topics such as the place and role of bilateral free trade agreements and how they contribute to economic growth through the enhancement of two-way trade. The workshops will also cover a comprehensive review of the rules of origin and technical compliance. The workshop series will begin on May 10, 2023, and run each month through September 2023. The sessions are free and open to everyone, but participants must register in advance by Monday, May 8, at www.oabc.org/events or by emailing info@oabc.org for more information.Commenting on the upcoming online workshops, Ali Daud, the chairman of OABC, said, “While the trade between the US and Oman has reached a record high, there is still so much opportunity for Omani businesses. We work very closely with the US Embassy in Muscat, and together we realized that there was a need to build greater awareness and understanding of the US-Oman FTA and how it can bolster international trade, attract investment, and create jobs for both Omanis and Americans.”“The aim of this project is to help promote the special economic partnership between Oman and the United States, as reflected in the FTA, with the goal of increasing awareness of the FTA among Omani and American importers/exporters and ultimately increasing trade and jobs in both markets,” he added. The Oman American Business Center promotes understanding, partnerships, and other matters of mutual economic interest between business communities in Oman and the US. Formed in 2003, the OABC’s mission is to foster commercial activity between Oman and the United States. With more than 25 events annually and over 180 member companies, the OABC is Oman’s most active business networking group.
