Embassy Rejects Reports of Rail Transit Restrictions via Kazakhstan

The Iranian Embassy in Kazakhstan has rejected reports that restrictions have been imposed on rail transit to Iran through Kazakh territory. The embassy’s public relations office made the remarks in response to an ISNA inquiry following reports that Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan had introduced restrictions on rail cargo bound for Iran amid intensified U.S. sanctions pressure. The embassy said that, so far, no reports have been received indicating any disruption or restriction affecting the transit and cargo transportation of Iranian companies or Iranian rail wagons through the territory of Kazakhstan to Iran. Iran’s diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan are continuously monitoring the situation and closely following up on the matter, the embassy added. - Kayhan
