Aviation Head: Iran Fully Self-Sufficient in Aircraft Maintenance

Iran requires no foreign technical assistance for maintaining and repairing its commercial airline fleet, according to Abouzar Shiroudi, head of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran. Shiroudi stated that numerous neighboring and regional countries regularly rely on Iranian repair centers for aircraft engine maintenance—a service that has continued uninterrupted even following recent regional conflicts.
Acknowledging the impact of international restrictions, Shiroudi highlighted the unjust nature of sanctions targeting the aviation sector.

“Passenger aircraft and their components have no military application and cannot be used for defense purposes,” he said. “These sanctions are explicitly designed to hurt the civilian passenger sector.”
Despite ongoing international pressure and formal protests raised at global forums, Shiroudi emphasized that Iran’s aviation industry remains fully operational. He announced that a significant number of newly added seats will soon enter service once all required safety and security standards are met. “A bright horizon lies ahead for the country’s aviation industry,” Shiroudi added, expressing confidence that active efforts will drive the sector toward its operational goals. - Kayhan
