Libya & Tunisia Review Enhancement of Cooperation in Land Transport

Libya and Tunisia have discussed ways to expand cooperation in land transport and facilitate the movement of passengers and goods between the two countries.

The talks took place during a meeting of the joint technical committee on land transport in Tunis on 11 and 12 August.

The Libyan delegation was led by Deputy Transport Minister for Land Transport Affairs Fadlallah Rafallah Ashour, while Tunisia’s delegation was headed by Director General of Land Transport Tarek Bouazizi.

Libya presented proposals for developing its land transport system and stressed the need to activate a bilateral agreement on the transport of passengers and goods by road, signed on 31 July 1996.

The two sides also discussed improving services and streamlining transport procedures at border crossings.

They reaffirmed the close ties between Libya and Tunisia and the importance of continued coordination to facilitate the movement of people and goods and improve services at border crossings.
