John Crane Saudi Arabia Appoints 1st Female Manager

John Crane, a global flow control technology company and part of Smiths Group, has appointed Bedour Bubshait as Regional Procurement Manager, making her the first woman to hold a management position within its Saudi Arabian business.

Bubshait joined John Crane in 2018 in customer service before moving into procurement, building an eight-year career through continuous learning and leadership development.

“Starting in customer service gave me an understanding of our customers and our business that I still rely on today,” she said.

Reflecting on her career challenges, she added: “There were times when I questioned myself. But every challenge taught me something. I learned to stay patient, keep developing and believe that if I continued to work hard, opportunities would come.”

Ruben Alvarez, John Crane President, said Bubshait's appointment “reflects both trends” in industrial transformation and Saudi Arabia’s growing talent pool, adding that she “has earned this opportunity through eight years of continuous learning, resilience and commitment to our customers.”
