Iranian Oil Workers Keep Fuel Flowing during Wartime

Executive vice president said round-the-clock efforts by oil industry workers ensured uninterrupted fuel supplies and other essential services during the third imposed war, despite damage to key infrastructure.

Speaking Tuesday at a meeting of senior officials from the Presidential Office and the Executive Vice Presidency, Mohammad-Jafar Qaempanah said the government took swift measures to secure water, gasoline, essential goods and other critical supplies throughout the conflict. Qaempanah said thousands of residential units were damaged during the attacks, while parts of Iran's energy, oil, gas, steel and industrial infrastructure were also hit.

He said the attacks demonstrated that Iran's adversaries were seeking to target the country's national resources and independence, arguing that the conflict extended beyond disputes over Iran's nuclear program or defense capabilities to broader issues of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Qaempanah said the government worked to ensure that public services continued without disruption despite the challenging conditions. He credited executive agencies, particularly employees in the oil industry, with managing the situation through continuous operations despite sustaining damage.

He said gasoline consumption exceeded 120 million liters per day at one stage during the conflict but returned to normal within days through operational management and public cooperation. He also thanked citizens for avoiding panic-driven behavior, saying their cooperation helped the country navigate the crisis.

Qaempanah added that an attack on a fuel pumping facility supplying northern Iran from Tehran briefly disrupted operations. However, oil industry personnel rapidly restored fuel transfers by establishing alternative routes, preventing any interruption in fuel deliveries to service stations nationwide. He said the efforts of oil industry workers during the conflict represent an important chapter that should be preserved for future generations. - Shana
