A memorandum of understanding was signed at the 19th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding ties across multiple sectors.The document was signed Wednesday, Feb. 18, following specialized working group sessions and a final meeting of senior officials from both countries. It was endorsed by Mohsen Paknejad, head of the Iranian side of the commission and Iran’s oil minister, and Sergey Tsivilyov, head of the Russian side and Russia’s energy minister.The memorandum outlines a framework for implementing agreements between Tehran and Moscow, with an emphasis on expanding economic, trade and technical cooperation. It covers energy, oil and gas, petroleum products, transportation, banking and investment.During the commission, specialized working groups reviewed progress on previous resolutions and discussed oil and gas field development, new investments, trade facilitation and the removal of operational barriers to joint projects. The outcomes were incorporated into the final memorandum.Economic relations between Iran and Russia have grown in recent years, supported by the political will of senior officials. The agreements were signed Wednesday during the 19th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission between Iran and the Russian Federation, involving organizations and companies from both countries.One MoU, covering an executive cooperation plan for 2026 to 2028, was signed by Farzaneh Ansari, vice president and head of the National Standards Organization of Iran, and Anton Shalaev, head of Russia’s Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology.Another agreement was signed by Mehdi Alipour, head of Iran’s National Accreditation Center, and Dmitry Volvach, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Accreditation.Parvaneh Rezaei, Iran’s deputy minister of cooperatives, labor and social welfare, and Mikhail Ivankov, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Labor and Employment, signed an MOU on cooperation in employment development and labor inspection.The final MoU was signed by Azim Kalantari Asl, head of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, and Andrei Ashpak, CEO of RT Ximia.The 19th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission opened Monday in Tehran.
