ICRC Calls for Fund to Support Yemen Operations in 2026

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has called for US$126.882 million to fund its humanitarian operations in Yemen throughout 2026.

The appeal underscores the organization’s urgent need to sustain life-saving assistance amid one of the world’s most protracted crises.

According to the ICRC, the funds will be directed toward critical programs including emergency medical care, support for hospitals and health facilities, clean water and sanitation projects, and aid for communities affected by conflict and displacement.

The organization emphasized that Yemen’s humanitarian situation remains dire, with millions facing food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and ongoing risks from landmines and unexploded ordnance.

“The humanitarian needs in Yemen are immense and persistent,” the ICRC stated. “This appeal reflects our commitment to continue providing neutral, impartial assistance to those most affected by the conflict.”

The ICRC has been active in Yemen for decades, working alongside the Yemen Red Crescent Society to deliver aid across frontlines.

The 2026 appeal highlights the scale of resources required to maintain operations in a country where humanitarian access is often challenged by insecurity and logistical constraints.

International donors are expected to review the funding request in early 2026, as humanitarian agencies warn that underfunding could severely impact relief efforts in Yemen.
