Iranian Gas Refinery Cuts Gas Flaring by 71%

The acting head of Fajr-e Jam Gas Refining Company said the volume of gas sent to flares has dropped by more than 71% since the Iranian year 1398 (2019), helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

According to the company, Hamid Khedari said the decline in flared gas is a major achievement that reflects the company’s strong commitment to cutting pollution. He noted that this success resulted from implementing comprehensive process optimization plans, improving energy efficiency, controlling emissions, and carrying out flare reduction projects.

In addition to these technical measures, Khedari said the company has launched a program to plant and maintain hundreds of native trees to offset part of its carbon footprint and enhance local environmental quality.

He added that sustainable development is a long-term path that can only be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and collective responsibility. Fajr Jam, he said, remains committed to building a greener, safer, and more forward-looking industry by continuing environmental projects and adopting modern technologies. - Shana
