Reza Sepahond, a member of the Iran Majlis Energy Committee, said that India rushed to place a request to purchase oil from Iran after learning of the activation of the snapback mechanism. Sepahond estimates the size of this request at around 10 million barrels per year, although the exact figure has not been determined.The Iranian official explained that official data from the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that New Delhi imported a shipment of crude oil from Iran worth US$111 million a week ago.
