On World Tourism Day, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) highlighted the sector's strong expansion under its Ninth Cabinet, supported by major infrastructure investments. Over the period, 80 new tourism projects have been completed with a total value of $7.56 billion [IQD 9.87 trillion]. The Kurdistan Region now offers more than 3,000 tourist facilities, including: - 480 hotels - 282 motels - 44 resorts - 20 tourist villages - About 1,000 restaurants and fast-food outlets - Roughly 700 cafés - 28 amusement parksAccording to the press release from the KRG, these developments, supported by improved infrastructure and road networks, have revitalised the tourism industry, with the region attracting an estimated 7-8 million visitors annually.
