The College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Irish Emergency Logistics Team during a ceremony held in Erbil.The event was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Sirwan Khurshid, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani, Andrew Paisley, British Consul General in Erbil, and Will Holden, a representative of the Irish Emergency Logistics Team.In his remarks, Mr. Holden highlighted the significance of the agreement, noting:"It is a great honor to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Sulaimani and the Emergency Logistics Team in the presence of the British Consul General in Erbil. This Memorandum will play a pivotal role in advancing education and expertise in the field of logistics and management."Following the signing, the British Consulate General in Erbil described the agreement as "an important step forward in the field of logistics and transportation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq."On behalf of the University of Sulaimani, Assistant Professor Dr. Sirwan Khurshid emphasized the academic and professional value of the MoU:"Our objective is to enhance education and professional practice in production management, supply chains, and logistics. We will soon introduce a range of accredited courses, lasting from one day to two years, that will culminate in the awarding of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) certifications."He further noted that the University of Sulaimani will serve as an accredited center for these programs, which will be delivered both online and in-person by international experts. Dr. Khurshid added:"These courses will contribute to advancing expertise, fostering professional development, and aligning education with labor market demands. The launch of these programs and the awarding of internationally recognized certificates through the University of Sulaimani will also enhance the university's standing, strengthen its academic and international relations, expand scientific research collaborations, and improve the overall quality of teaching."The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), a globally recognized authority in supply chain and transport education, is now extending its accredited programs to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region through this collaboration. These programs will soon be accessible via the University of Sulaimani's website, enabling students and professionals alike to pursue advanced training and internationally recognized qualifications.
