Kurdistan Expands Agricultural Infrastructure to Boost Food Security


The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a series of measures under its Ninth Cabinet to strengthen food security and agricultural resilience.

Infrastructure

 - Three modern grain silos completed
 - Additional grain storage facilities under construction
 - Total wheat storage capacity (when operational): 200,000 tonnes

Public Investment in Agriculture

 - Increase in budget allocation: from 1.8% to 10%
 - 30,000 plastic greenhouses established
 - 319 cold storage facilities established

Business Activity

 - More than 11,000 companies officially registered
 - 1,650 factories granted operational permits
 - Agricultural products from the Kurdistan Region formally exported for the first time

The KRG said it remains committed to supporting local production, reducing dependency on imports, and building an economy able to withstand regional and global shocks.
