Algeria and Venezuela strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the energy field, with the working visit of the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. During his stay from 19 to 20 February, the minister was received by the Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro Moros, to whom he delivered an official letter from the president Tebboune, bringing the "fraternal greetings" of the head of state. Furthermore, Arkab illustrated the preparations for the seventh summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which will be held in Algeria on 2 March 2024, expressing the desire to see active participation of Venezuela and underlining the importance of solidarity among GECF members for the development of resources and the gas industry.The President Maduro, reports the Algerian news agency “Aps”, reiterated Venezuela's strong commitment to strengthening cooperation with Algeria, in particular in the sector of hydrocarbon exports, including the development of the gas industry, training and exchange of experiences and skills between companies from the two countries. Also significant was Minister Arkab's meeting with Pedro Rafael Tellechea, CEO of the national oil company Pdvsa, during which ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of research, exploration and production of hydrocarbons, as well as in the maintenance of the oil and gas industry were discussed. The topics covered also included training, skills development and the exchange of experiences between Algerian Sonatrach and Pdvsa.
