The recent buzz in Oran, Algeria, surrounding the supposed opening of an American Starbucks coffee shop has taken a surprising turn as it has been confirmed to be fake. In recent days, social media flooded with videos claiming the opening of a Starbucks store in the Algerian city. The visuals displayed the unmistakable Starbucks logo, the crowned mermaid with two fishtails, alongside coffee cups and interior design synonymous with the global coffee giant. The news of the store created a wave of excitement among residents. However, skepticism grew due to the lack of an official announcement from Starbucks regarding a new store in Algeria. In addition, the purported Starbucks store faced operational challenges, including abrupt closures three hours ahead of the stated closing time due to an unexpected surge in customers. Reports circulated on social media noted excessively long queues and premature stock depletion, raising doubts about the legitimacy of the store. Several Algerians turned to Starbucks’ official website in hopes of confirming the presence of the American coffee giant in their country. However, there was no mention of an Algerian location.Soon after, locals took to Twitter, directing their questions and tagging Starbucks’ official account, seeking an official response. The official account quickly responded, putting the rumors to rest. “Hi there, thank you for reaching out! Starbucks has not opened at this location,” the company said. Many have called on local authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that false representations of international brands do not deceive the public.
