Kazakhstan Calls for Further Interaction of EAEU with Iran

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called for improvement of interaction between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Speaking at the Summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Tokayev called for the EAEU’s further interaction with Iran, Vietnam, and Serbia with which the Economic Union has signed a preferential trade agreement.

The EAEU consists of five member states including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia, and Iran’s geographical location greatly helps provide the Central Asian countries with access to the high seas.

Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan signed a joint statement for enhanced transit during the first ministerial summit on transit cooperation among regional countries which was initiated for the first time by Iran on October 9. - Iran Daily
