Oman’s LNG exports during the first six months of 2022 increased by 8 % to reach 5.9 million tons compared to 5.5 million tons during the corresponding period of 2021. The Sultanate of Oman exported 3 million tons of LNG during the first quarter of the current year against approximately 2.9 million tons exported during the second quarter of the previous year. The increase in exports of LNG reaffirms that the Oman LNG terminal is operating at full production capacity, which is estimated at 11.4 million tons per annum.During the first six months of the current year, Oman's monthly exports of LNG amounted to 0.9 million tons which made Oman’s LNG shipments reach new destinations. The new destinations which received Oman's LNG included Puerto Rico which received a shipment of 67,000 tons last June. The largest Asian markets received the majority of exports of Oman’s LNG. The major Asian markets included South Korea which received 2.25 million tons (38 % of total exports) during the first half of the year 2022 while Japan received 1.51 million tons (26 % of the total exports). Other Asian markets included China, India, Taiwan and Thailand.
