Iran, Russia to Hold Energy Talks During Novak Visit

Iran and Russia are scheduled to hold a meeting on bilateral cooperation in the energy sector on Wednesday. The talks will be held during the upcoming visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak heading a high-ranking delegation. According to Sputnik, Novak is expected to arrive in Tehran on 25 May and attend a session revolving around the two sides’ energy ties.

Iran and Russia have vast oil and gas reserves and enjoy high geopolitical status. The two countries can change the equation in international energy and economic sectors. Both Iran and Russia have energy-based economies, and their economies have developed through exporting energy products.

Following his visit to Moscow on 18 January 18 2022, Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji said, “Good decisions were made to develop oil and gas fields in the upstream, refinery, and petrochemical downstream sectors, and transfer of equipment and technology that play a strategic role in Iran’s oil and gas industries. - Shana
