Malaysia to Enhance UAE Trade Ties

The Malaysian community and businesses are very happy to have a presence the in UAE and are looking forward to have a more active participation in the opportunities available in the country's development, Malaysian Ambassador Dato' Yahaya Abdul Jabar has said. Speaking at the 53rd Malaysia National Day celebration on Tuesday, Yahaya praised the UAE leadership for providing such a conducive environment for the Malaysian companies and expatriates to work and thrive.

He said Malaysia received 22,108 tourists from the UAE in 2009, and for the first six months of 2010, tourist arrivals from the UAE totalled 9,134 an increase of 13 per cent compared to the same period in 2009. He also pointed ro the accessibility of Malaysia from the UAE with Malaysia Airlines currently flying seven times a week from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur and daily from Abu Dhabi through code share with Itihad Airways. "Emirates Airlines is also flying to Kuala Lumpur three times daily, making a total of 21 flights a week."

With this accessibility, he invited UAE companies to participate in the INTRADE 2010, a leading general trade fair to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 9-11 November 2010. "The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), is inviting UAE companies to join the incoming buying mission for buyers and sellers. This programme provides free accommodation for four nights stay and two days business meeting in Kuala Lumpur," he said.-Zawya
