Algeria Held Assessment Meeting on Trade Sector


The Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika on 24 August 2010 held an assessment meeting devoted to the sector of trade, as part of the annual hearings on the activities of the different ministerial departments. During this meeting, the Trade Minister, Mustapha Benbada, focused on the measures taken by the sector for the management, market control, business practices and competition, as well as fraud repression and control.

The minister underlined the strengthening of the instruments for market regulation and organization, which aims mainly at preserving the purchasing power, protecting consumers and national economy, drawing up an appropriate regulation taking into consideration the different changes that affect the society and economy. In this respect, the laws relating to the competition and business practices have been amended. As regards the organization of the commercial activities and consumer protection, a number of laws relating to the regulation of the setting-up of commercial equipments, compliance of products and consumer information were promulgated.- APS
