Egypt Encouraging Private Sector Investment in Agriculture

Egyptian Agriculture and land Reclamation minister Amin Abaza said 13 new axes for cooperation with Ethiopia have been endorsed by the cabinet for boosting cooperation with Ethiopia. He also said that the new strategy for cooperation with the Nile Basin countries is based on encouraging the private sector in Egypt and Ethiopia to invest in the fields of agriculture and fisheries at the Nile Basin countries.

The new agricultural strategy for cooperation with Ethiopia is based on importing Ethiopian meat as Ethiopia has big animal wealth. Egypt is contemplating the hiring of one of the plantations owned by the Ethiopian government and the establishment of a plan producing cooking oils to offset shortage Egypt is suffering from.
