Nakilat Boosts Fleet with New Q-Max in Qatar

Nakilat has taken delivery of Q-Max LNG carrier ‘Zarga’, which will be chartered on a long term contract to Qatargas Operating Company. The 266,000 cu m ship was delivered to Nakilat at a ceremony held at Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard on Geoje Island.

‘Zarga’ will be used to ship liquefied natural gas produced by Qatargas 4 to markets primarily in the North America, China and Dubai. Q-Max has 80% more capacity than conventional LNG carriers with about 40% lower energy requirements. Q-Max LNG carriers are ‘unique and purpose built’ for Nakilat and allow for more efficient transport of Qatar’s natural gas to markets throughout the world.- Gulf Times
