Algeria's New Techniques to Increase Hydrocarbon Output

Algerian Energy and Mines Minister, Chakib Khelil, said on 2 March 2010 in Hassi Messaoud that resorting to new technologies in exploration is a means to increase hydrocarbon producing capacities. In this respect, the minister underlined three-dimensional seismic acquisition technology, an effective exploration technique based on seismic vibrations and interpretation. Concerning the new town of Hassi Messaoud (Ouargla province, 800 Km south of Algiers), the minister said the town's administrative council has made a study about all relevant objectives, and considered an invitation to tender, ahead of the launch of the project's studies and execution. - APS
