
Algeria’s Optical Fiber Network, Largest in Region
Algeria has the largest optical fiber network in the region, said on Wednesday Minister of Posts and Information and Communication Technologies Hamid Bessalah. "Algeria has the chance to have the largest optical fiber network in the region with its 65.000 km which is amazing" Bessalah told the 3rd channel of the national radio. He pointed out that Algeria is a "netted" country that only needs to be equipped to increase the throughput in order to improve internet quality. "It is an objective we are achieving progressively, we will increase the links capacity," he added. With regards to the campaign Ousratic II, the Minister said he wishes that this time the problem of banks loans will not be raised like it was in the first campaign. About 10 millions of people are targeted by this campaign; namely those working in education sector and professional training. - APS
