The Egyptian Minister of Transport Alaa Batayneh has launched the Arab Bridge Maritime Company’s new ship "Amman" at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The company, with a fleet of 8 ships, is jointly owned by Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq. The newly-launched ship will link Saudi Red Sea port of “Dibaa” with its Egyptian counterpart, “Safaja”.
"Today’s event’s is a part of a strategic plan to boost maritime transport network in a bid to serve pan-Arab economic integration," Batayneh added.
The minister called for the establishment of a new cargo and passenger port at Aqaba Special Economic Zone to meet traveler`s rising demand on freight services.
The minister, who attended the ceremony, held at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, said the inauguration of this new route is a step forward to achieve safe maritime transport network. – QNA
