Sonatrach Imports Spare Parts Worth US$1 Billion Yearly

Algerian Sonatrach imports nearly 500,000 spare parts worth US$1 billion per year necessary for the execution of its industrial installations and equipments maintenance operations, an official in the group said.

These industrial spare parts, listed in sixty reference models, cover the different divisions of Sonatrach activities (upstream, downstream, and transport), Fatma Zohra Talantikite, in charge of technology department told reporters on the margin of first international forum in the promotion of industrial spare parts manufacturing.

The bill of these imports is "very high and may increase with the constant expansion of Sonatrach activities in the absence of a true national network of industrial sub-contractors able to reduce this financial burden," Talantikite added. - ElKhabar
