Fall in Commercial Activity for Algeria's Tans Port

A governmental report issued recently shows that the sea port of Tans has registered a significant decrease in commercial activity over the course of 2009, marking a 24% drop from its overall activities in 2008 due to new stricter regulations on scrap metal and other exports by the Ministry of Commerce.

The amount of exports from Tans port were 684,222 tons in 2008 dropping to approximately 51,000 tons in 2009.

Imports through the same port have nearly doubled in 2009 to 587,000 tons compared to that of 495,000 tons in 2008. – Al Khabar
