2 CNG Stations to Open in Iran per Day


31 CNG stations in Tehran and 15 other provinces were inaugurated simultaneously.

Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), Noureddin Shahnazizadeh, said during the inauguration ceremonies of these CNG stations “With inauguration of these latest stations, total number of mono-purpose and dual-purpose CNG stations reached 1,107 and we plan to inaugurate 2 CNG stations everyday in Iran by the end of 1388 (March 2009-2010).

“Currently 1.7 million CNG-based vehicles exist in Iran with some having their engines converted to CNG-based engines by the manufacturer and the other by centers for converting gasoline-based engines to CNG-based ones."

According to Shahnazizadeh, with consumption of 6.5 Mcm/d of CNG in vehicles, not only 6 million liters of gasoline is being saved daily, but it has also helped to keep the environment clean. – Abrar-e Eghtesadi
