The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) organized a business lunch in honor of the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry H E Nevin Gamea, and her accompanying delegation. The meeting was also attended by H E Amr El Sherbiny, Egyptian Ambassador to Qatar, Minister of Trade Plenipotentiary Yahya Al Wathiq Billah, and Hatem Al Ashry, Advisor to the Minister for Institutional Communication. The meeting discussed investment opportunities and the incentives offered in both countries. QBA’s Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, First Deputy Chairman Hussein Ibrahim Al Fardan and Board Members Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani and Sherida Al Kaabi, as well as members including Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Thani, Sheikh Faisal bin Fahd Al Thani, Khalid Al Mannai, Nabil Abu Issa, and Ihsan Al Khaymi were also present during the meeting. During the event, the Egyptian Minister invited the QBA members to visit Cairo; and discussed investment opportunities and potential cooperation between the two countries. She also highlighted the existing investments of the Qatari private sector in different regions of the Arab Republic of Egypt. She also reviewed the Egyptian experience in establishing and managing industrial complexes, which resulted in the establishment of 17 industrial complexes in 15 governorates nationwide, comprising all productive sectors. Gamea indicated that during the meeting, all parties agreed on re-activating the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Business Council in a way that contributes to strengthening cooperation and economic integration and encouraging the private sector in both countries to increase joint investments and inter-trade between Egypt and Qatar during the next stage. Also speaking during the event, Sheikh Faisal stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation between Qatar and Egypt in various economic sectors, especially in the new industrial zones, and benefiting from the great opportunities and potentials of the two countries in this regard. He also pointed to the important role played by the sector in both countries to strengthen bilateral relations. Sheikh Faisal also welcomed the invitation to visit Egypt and visit the industrial complexes and the investment opportunities they offer. During the meeting, Al Fardan stressed the importance of developing joint commercial, industrial and investment relations, and highlighted the will of the Qatari businessmen to invest in the Egyptian market and benefit from the significant investment opportunities available in the industry and service sectors. Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal pointed out the importance of strengthening joint efforts between businessmen in both countries to expand Egyptian-Qatari investment projects, especially since there are industrial partnerships between 4,500 Egyptian and Qatari companies. He also stressed the importance of introducing Qatari companies to investment opportunities in Egypt. He added that the meeting reviewed all the trade agreements signed between the two countries and the possibilities of benefiting from these agreements, including the Arab Free Trade Zone agreement in increasing the rates of trade exchange between both countries. The meeting also discussed the possibility of holding an exhibition of Egyptian products in Doha in February, and another exhibition of heritage product, in addition to the possibility of Qatar’s participation in the “Our Heritage” exhibition of products and handicrafts.
