Activities of the second Iranian Products’ Exhibition kicked off on Monday at the fairgrounds in Damascus, with the participation of tens of commercial and industrial companies specializing in medical equipment, agricultural tools, oil and gas equipment, petrochemicals, food, textiles, and cars. Economy and Foreign Trade Minister, Muhammad Samer al-Khalil, said during the opening of the exhibition that the presence of a large number of Iranian companies indicates that cooperation between the two sides does not target only trade exchange, but it moved to export cooperation for the two countries’ markets, noting that most companies seek cooperation in the field of investment, whether directly or through cooperation with the public or private sectors.“Bilateral meetings between the Syrian and Iranian sides gave an opportunity to get acquainted with the situation of the Syrian market and the exchange of contracts and agreements, and the fruits of these meetings will appear in the development of trade exchange and industrial integration in many sectors,” Minister Khalil added.For his part, the Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin, said that Syria was and still is an industrial country and possesses good infrastructure in the textile and food industries sector, indicating that Iran is looking for joint job opportunities between the two countries and there are great potentials for developing joint relations in this field.Elsewhere, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Amro Salem discussed with Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin and an accompanying delegation means of enhancing trade relations between the two countries and developing joint economic cooperation to serve the interests of the two peoples. The two sides discussed issues related to specifying the foodstuffs and commodities required in the Syrian and Iranian markets and the possibility of trade exchange in a way that creates a balance between the importer and the exporter in both countries in addition to establishing joint projects and exchanging experiences.Minister Salem affirmed in a press statement after the meeting that there is a common desire between the two countries to cooperate in the fields of foodstuffs, agricultural investment, manufacturing and the exchange of goods that serve the Syrian and Iranian markets. In turn, the Iranian minister pointed out to the importance of upgrading trade and economic relations to the level of historical relations between the two countries to serve the interests of the two peoples, stressing his country’s readiness to support the Syrian people in all circumstances. - SANA
