Ex CEO of BAPCO, Abdul Kareem al-Sayyed, said that the company has concluded the studies required for 4-5 projects with an estimated cost of US$5 billion. Some of the said projects are already underway whereas some are still on the negotiation tables. Some of these projects include the exchange of oil pipelines between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, updating the existing refinery units, upgrading the al-Bahrain Refinery with a larger output capacity, in addition to studying the possibilities of using the output of the Abu Safah field for refining instead of selling it as crude.
