Aramco, BAPCO Announce New Phase of Saudi-Bahrain Pipeline

Saudi Aramco and Bahrain's BAPCO have announced the commissioning of the AB-4 pipeline, a new phase of Saudi-Bahrain crude oil pipeline, the Saudi company said on Tuesday. The new pipeline is capable of transporting up to 350,000 barrels per day of crude oil, Aramco said in a statement.

Also in line with directives issued by the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security - led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister - Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) achieved a key project milestone when it announced on 3 October placing ‘oil in’ the new AB Pipeline constructed between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. This followed successful and safe execution of mechanical completion and pre-commissioning activities over the past few weeks.

The project was executed by an integrated team of contractors, led by Saudi Aramco and Bapco. It is Bapco’s largest capital project successfully delivered in recent years. A symbolic ceremony attended by senior members of Bapco Leadership was held to commemorate this achievement at Bapco Refinery.

Further work will continue over the coming weeks in stabilizing the flow of crude oil along with completing associated commissioning activities. Aramco and Bapco will shift the full supply of crude oil to the new pipeline in the months ahead. The new AB Pipeline will replace the existing pipeline network serving the refinery.

Bapco takes great pride in this key milestone which reflects the wise visions of the political leaderships in both sisterly kingdoms, and embodies the valued support and guidance of the Minister of Oil HE Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa for fostering this significant initiative which aims at bolstering the sustainable growth in the region.
